Sometimes New Zealand can seem more English than England. The croquet club at Rotorua has been in existence for over a century and its 1907 clubhouse is part of the local heritage trail. There are half a dozen bowling greens nearby and on a cricket pitch not far away a touring MCC side once played and beat the local Bay of Plenty XI in the 1920s by six wickets.
